Wild Namibia: The Kalahari Menu - Ostrich with papaya, yam and baobab

The next stop on Terra Canis’ journey around the world is Namibia. Not only is this beautiful southern African country home to the Big Five safari animals – it is also one of the most multi-faceted, fascinating countries on Earth. Namibia is a favoured destination for nature lovers and globetrotters alike – and for good reason. Famous for the Namib Desert, which is home to the highest dunes in the world, as well as the unique nature reserve in the Etosha National Park whose unusual salt pan is even visible from space, Namibia inspires with its wilderness and diversity. The country is impressive not only because of its beautiful landscapes and diversity of natural species – sun-drenched Namibia has plenty to offer from a culinary perspective, too.

The basis for our exquisite African meal is high-quality ostrich meat, which provides energy as well as valuable amino acids. What is more, as an exotic food, ostrich is suitable even for dogs with food sensitivities. Cassava, quinoa and yam are additional energy sources alongside the meat. Important nutrients, vitamins and phytochemicals are provided by healthy delicacies such as energy-rich bananas, vitamin-laden papayas and acerola cherries – which are as good for dogs as they are for humans, and delicious to boot!

One thing which sets the meal apart is the inclusion of the “African superfood” baobab. The fruit of the African Adansonia tree contains numerous antioxidants and phytochemicals which support your dog’s physiology and immune defences. Aromatic herbs and natural additions such as lemon balm, marigold, chia seeds and aloe vera round off this delicacy from Africa on a decidedly healthy note.
